Project Update

The new middle school is more than halfway through the design development process.

  • The landscape architects presented the first round of conceptual ideas to the Building Committee last Thursday, October 11. Every effort is being made to minimize site disturbance, preserve wooded areas and design with local materials to reduce the carbon footprint.

  • The next round of cost estimates will be conducted in December/January. These estimates are sent to the market to get updated budgetary costs from the initial estimate. These costs will then be shared with the Building Committee and Board of Education for more feedback.

  • The traffic & transportation working group will meet on Thursday, October 24 to review the traffic study, busing and onsite traffic.

  • The Board recognizes the impact of this project on the city and community and has made it a priority to share information about the project. The Middle School Project page on our website has 175+ presentations, documents and studies. The main page now has an overview of the project with brief summaries of each topic.
